I’m not nameless. I’m Spencer, and I suffer from mental health issues, specifically depression, addiction, and suicidal thoughts and behavior.
I have a name for two reasons: First, I am not an anonymous individual with no identity or purpose. My name is my unique identity, and it signifies that I have worth and value. Second, I’m not hiding in anonymity and shame. By publicly expressing my struggles, I’m helping to raise awareness and reduce the unfortunate stigma surrounding mental health.
You have a name, too. You have an identity and purpose. You are not worthless.
I’m not a doctor, therapist, counselor, or expert. I’m just a guy who feels called by God to help others through their journeys.
